ICONIC guitar brands are continuously on a mission to recapture a slice of the past and present it to new and younger players, and Fender is no exception. Every few years, the renowned USA company offers a new take on its legacy models; the latest is the Vintera series. Of course, we’re sure older guitar-slinging gentlemen and ladies would be interested, too!
These electric guitars and basses sport the the familiar names – Stratocaster, Telecaster, Precision and Jazz – along with a couple of less familiar but equally important ones like the Mustang and Jaguar.
All the models feature “era-correct pickups, classic colours and other coveted features from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s”, in a mission to replicate “all the sound and style of the decades that defined them.”
We’re told that the pickups “are full of the bright, bell-like tone that made Fender famous,” while the period-correct neck profiles are “sleek, sculpted and comfortable, delivering a vintage-style playing feel and authentic Fender tone.”
Of course, looks are as important, and the colours define various eras, from the Seafoam Green of the ’50s to the Inca Silver of the ’60s and Mocha from the ’70s.
There are 20 models in the Vintera range, in various configurations and colours of the classic models, although the rosewood fretboards of the originals have now been replaced with Pau Ferro, which has much fewer restrictions.
